Bumblin’ Idiots Futball Fantasy League Rules

B.I.F.F. Constitution: (modified 08/17/06)

1. B.I.F.F. was started in 1999 – expanded to 12 teams in 2000

B.I.F.F. league consists of 12 teams all in one division. The format is a keeper league with each team keeping between 1 & 3 players from the previous year’s roster. We will play a head-to-head schedule, using the Yahoo fantasy football interface (currently). We will have a 14-week regular season with two weeks of playoffs to determine the champion.

2. Draft: Saturday, August 26th, 2006, 9:30 am

For the draft order, please follow the draft order link from the main page.

The draft order was decided by a draw of the four last place teams. The last place team had their name entered into the draw four times the 11th place team three times, and so on up to the best record of these four teams which will have their team name in the draw just once. We then drew the names out to decide the order of the draft. The final eight teams will draft in the order they finished the playoffs in. This is a keeper league, so 'franchise' or 'keepers' cannot be drafted.

Each team will draft 12 players. This doesn't include the players that were reserved - If you reserved less then 3 players, you will be given compensatory draft picks (following the first round) to fill your roster with the required number of players.

3. Wins/Losses (Schedule):

A random schedule was created, which will pit one team vs. another team for that week’s games. The team with the highest score wins. Your team score will be determined by adding up your active players’ points and your defensive team’s points using the scoring system below. In case of a tie, the game ends in a tie. This is per Yahoo rules.

Each team will play each team once and play three teams twice (for a total of 14 games). The schedule is currently a random draw according to Yahoo. This may change in the future.

NOTE: It is important that you check the NFL schedule before turning in your lineup to avoid starting a player on a team, which has a bye that week.

4. Playoffs: The regular season is 14 games and begins on week 1 of the NFL season. Playoffs are weeks 15 & 16.

The best four records determine the playoff teams. (Ties will go to total points earned per Yahoo’s rules. This also will change in the future.) They will compete in a two-week, single elimination playoff to determine the league champ.

A consolation playoff will also take place involving the next four best records. (Ties will be handled as above.) The last four teams will not play the final two weeks, but will draw for next year’s draft as mentioned above.

The "B.I.F.F. Champion" will receive the B.I.F.F. Cup to keep for a year. This is a travelling trophy and will be given to the league champ (if possible or mailed if not) at the owners meeting following the season.

5. Franchise & Keepers: Owners keep six 'keepers', then cut to three franchise players from their previous year’s roster.

Each team has the right to keep up to three of the players from its previous season’s roster and must keep at least one player from their roster. If you keep only 1 or 2 franchise players, you will be given compensatory draft picks (2 picks if you keep 1 player; 1 pick if you keep 2 players) to equal the 3 franchise players on each roster. These picks will be taken, (by all that have them) in *Standard Draft Order, following the close of the first round. Currently, each owner must make their decision which 6 'keepers' they will reserve by March 31st. June 30th is the final cut date to pick your 3 'franchise players'.

You do have the right to drop one of your franchise players on draft day for whatever reason, but you must inform the commissioner prior to the start of the draft. (You cannot do this if the player you want to drop is the only player on your roster.) If you drop said player; you will be given one compensatory pick following the 1st round (In *Standard Draft Order). You will not be eligible to draft the player you dropped until the 2nd round.

* Standard Draft Order: each team that has compensatory picks will make their choice of player in the same order that the draft above did, skipping over those who do not have compensatory picks. If a team has more then one compensatory pick, everyone will make their first pick before anyone gets a second.

6. Transactions: Transactions consist of Free Agent Signings, Waiver Signings & Trades

During the season, all trades, waiver picks and free agent pickups are handled by Yahoo. Approval of the trades will follow a 24 hour review period. Yahoo then will automatically approve trades. Questionable trades will be discussed at commissioner's discretion.

Any trade that takes place must stand for two weeks before a trade back is allowed, unless traded back before the trade deadline for that week.

During the off season, all trades must be presented to the commissioner. A date will be set at the end of June (June 30th) after which no trades of players will be allowed until the B.I.F.F. League Draft. Trades may occur during the draft, provided they do not hinder the progress of the draft.

There will be no free agent moves during the off season and no trading of draft picks.

There is no limit to trades of players, but again, this cannot involve draft picks in any way.

7. Starting lineups:

Yahoo handles all starting lineup deadlines. Any questions should be directed to the rules section of the Yahoo Fantasy. (Keep this in mind for games on Thursdays & Saturdays)

Each week, we will start:

(1 QB) – (2 RB) – (3 WR) – (1 TE) – (1 Defense) – (1 Kicker)

8. Waiver Move Limits:

During the season, we will have a waiver / free agency move limit of 25 per season. If a team goes over this limit, they are charged $5 to receive 5 additional moves.

9. Suggested Rule Changes:

Rule changes will be added to this document. If someone has a rule change they would like to see, please mention this to the commissioner or a member of the rules committee. (Mark M., Tim W., Jeremy) The committee will review the issue. If the issue passes committee, then it will be implemented or if it's of a complex or 'sticky' issue, then the entire league will vote on it and it would need a majority vote to pass.

10. Expected Owner Conduct:

Owners are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that will not disparage the league, commissioner, league officers, nor its owners in any way, shape, or form.

Also, trash talk or other forms of expression are fine, but when it turns into an attack upon the commissioner’s office, league officers, team owners or the league itself, it will not be tolerated. Violations of "good conduct" may result in fines, removal of draft picks or even being asked to leave the league.

11. Prizes:

Along with the trophy for the overall champ, we have a $$$ pot based off the entry fees. Included in this is $8 for the team that takes 5th place. (Wins the consolation bracket.)

The breakdown of the prizes are as follows:

League fees are $17 per team currently:

With the 12 teams in the league, our total prize money is $204

$8 goes for 5th place

$5 for trophy fees

$70 goes for weekly top score ($5 for 14 regular season weeks)

$121 is broken up between 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. (60%, 30%, 10%)

Note, these prizes will change if any team goes over their allotted 25 waiver/free agency moves by adding the $ to the $121 total.
